Description

The Signatory Vintage Glen Spey 17 Years Old 1st Fill Oloroso Cask Strength #3 2007 57,3% Vol. 0,7 l in Tinbox comes from one of Scotland’s most respected independent bottling series and shows the multi-faceted side of the rather rarely encountered Speyside distillery Glen Spey. Signatory Vintage is known for its carefully selected single cask bottlings, which represent the character of a distillery without distortion. For this edition, a first fill Oloroso sherry cask from 2007 was selected, which intensively shaped the whisky over 17 years. It was bottled at cask strength with 57.3% vol., without chill filtration and without colorant – an authentic insight into the natural quality of the distillate.

Due to the many years of maturation in fresh Oloroso sherry casks, Glen Spey develops a pronounced depth with clear sherry influences, which harmoniously complement the rather fine basic structure of the distillery. The typical distillery notes – light maltiness, subtle herbs and fine fruit – combine with intense aromas of dark fruit, nuts and spicy oak. The whisky has a powerful yet balanced structure and presents the Glen Spey style in a particularly expressive form. The high-quality tin box rounds off this single cask bottling and makes it an attractive collector’s item for lovers of rare Speyside whiskies.

This single malt is ideal with strong chocolate desserts, figs or nut pastries, which elegantly absorb its sherry notes. Matured hard cheese or a chocolate fondant also harmonize perfectly with its intense structure. Enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water, the whisky opens up and reveals additional nuances of spices and dark fruits. The cask-strength bottling unfolds its multi-layered, long-lasting depth, especially in quiet moments in the evening.
